4) Install NVIDIA graphics card driver (see nvidia-graphics)

5) Install IDE

6) Install additional packages from source

7) Install Adobe Acrobat Reader from BIN package

8) Install research software

9) Give users access to new data partitions

    chgrp -R users  /data

10) Copy backed up files to new system (including .purple, .Skype, .thunderbird, .vim, .bashrc, .profile, .vimrc, *.kdb) (see backup-data)

11) Setup Konqueror:

a)  Set as standard browser

        Applications Menu -> Configure Desktop -> Default Applications ->
        Web Browser -> Application based on contents of URL

b)  Enable mouse gestures with 'khotkeys'

c)  Define new search engine shortcuts `{@}`:
    google scholar, amazon.co.uk, ebay.co.uk,
    lib.ru, ya.ru, lingvo.ru, ozon.ru, rylands lib
    wikibooks

d)  Import bookmarks from backup

12) Setup Thunderbird

a)  Set as default e-mail application

b)  Setup all e-mail accounts and aliases

c)  Import address book from backup

d)  Add spell checking dictionaries for English, German, Russian and Latvian

e)  Change default sound for incoming message to KDE-Im-New-Mail

f)  Set default encoding to UTF-8

        Preferences -> Display -> Advanced -> Character Encodings -> Outgoing/Incoming Mail

13) Install and setup Skype:

a)  Install dependent packages

16) Import passwords to KeePassX

17) Add Russian, German, French and Latvian as input languages

18) Setup timezones, calendar and automatic NTP time updates

a)  Disable original KDE screensaver

        Yast -> Configure Desktop -> Hardware -> Display and Monitor ->
        Screen Locker -> Disable checkbox 'Start Automatically'

b)  Create file `~/.kde4/Autostart/xscreesaver.desktop` with permissions 755
